Since the advent of the internet in the mid '1990s, the practise of booking hotels online has grown exponentially. Statistics are unclear, but it seems that Online Booking accounts for at least 20% and as much as 60% of all hotel reservations.
Guests booking online can get immediate confirmation of reservation request by using credit cards either to pay a deposit or to provide guarantee of payment.
Credit card security is of course a major issue in this respect. The payment card industry (PCIDSS) has developed strict security specifications for internet transactions and hotels and online-booking agents must use certified secure software (like acdRMS) to conduct online bookings.
The acdBookingWindow software is a so-called booking-engine which enables hotels to advertise accommodation on acdTravel.com and securely encrypt and store credit card details while confirming reservation requests. Guests get a reservation voucher and hotels use acd Reservations Management System to keep tabs on their current and future reservations.
acdRMS and acdBookingWindow are frequently tested and certified by McAfee Secure.
